Shire is moving 600 workers in the firm’s research and development and commercial marketing departments from Wayne to Lexington, Ma., Philadelphia Business Journal reports.

The Ireland-based drug manufacturer announced plans in November to move more than 500 local workers to Massachusetts. Although this is 100 more workers leaving the area than previously announced in November, Shire expects to continue to have about 250 to 300 workers in Wayne, according to the PBJ report.

Earlier this week Shire filed a new drug application with the Food and Drug Administration for a dry eye disease treatment. Shire is focused on providing treatments for rare diseases.
