Kennett Square Enjoying Economic Boom

By

The state of downtown Kennett Square can be summed up as a thriving destination for new businesses, according to Historic Kennett Square President David B. Myers’ annual address.

The borough’s past year totaled “$1.2 million in economic development, seven new businesses, and a host of new partnerships and marketing promotions,” according to Chadds Ford Live coverage of the event.

To help facilitate that growth, Kennett Square leveraged $3.8 million in county grants and looks forward to utilizing close to another $1 million for Magnolia Place streetscape improvements, not to mention a planned $45 million west-edge mixed use development, the opening of a new Victory Brewing Co. facility and the coming arrival of the Kennett Brewing Co.’s new home.

“Without the passion in your hearts, not just the vision, none of this would have ever happened,” Chester County Board of Commissioners Chairman Terence Farrell said in the article.
