Last summer the University of Delaware terminated its lease with West Chester firm The Data Centers LLC, which had planned to build a large data center supported by a 279-megawatt energy generation facility featuring combined heat and power that would allow it to operate “off the grid.”

Although controversial in the community, with some critics alleging potential pollution and quality of life concerns, the project was also heralded as a forward-looking way to bring jobs and up to $1 billion in investment to Newark.

The News Journal is reporting that the company is moving forward on other data center projects, but not in Delaware. No new projects are listed on its web site. Also, the News Journal reports one of the developers of the defunct project is suing a former partner for alleged project mismanagement. Read the full story and background here.
