Nonprofit Wings for Success Expands To Kennett Square To Help Women Find Jobs

By

Southern Chester County women ready to move on from homelessness, abuse or addiction to a fresh start at a new job can now get dressed for success thanks to a nonprofit organization opening up a branch location in Kennett Square on Jan. 5.

Wings for Success will launch its satellite site at 457 Birch Street for the start of the new year, and it plans a public open house on Jan. 21, 2015, from 4 to 7 p.m., according to a recent report in the Daily Local News.

“Some of our clients show up (at Wings) in sweats and flip-flops,” board member Charlene McGrady said in the article. “Many have commented after getting the new clothes and makeup that they can make a better presentation. They look the part so they can feel the part.”

Wings provides a new or gently-used selection of “up to two weeks’ worth of work-appropriate outfits, shoes and accessories valued at approximately $500,” plus job seeker workshops.

Veteran nonprofit leader Ingrid Lis, who has worked with the Chester County Intermediate Unit and Brandywine YMCA, will serve as manager.
