Will Chester County once again gain international notoriety as Goldcrest Films and director Simon West remake the 1958 movie The Blob?

The classic film starring Steve McQueen featured a slow-devouring jelly monster from outer space out to destroy Downingtown, and is scheduled to be remade this summer, Pastemagazine is reporting.

Whether the production will follow the original and film locally remains to be seen. The Downingtown Diner, on the site of a former diner that was famous for a scene in the original film, reopened at 81 W. Lancaster Ave. two years ago, according to a Daily Local News story.

Owner Abdul Elkhouly spent about $300,000 on renovations. Read the story here.
