Operation Warm at La Comunidad Hispana is providing children’s coats to community members in need, with 150 more coats just donated by Exelon of Kennett Square now available.

“This winter has been especially cold,” said Margarita Mirkil, president and chief operating officer of LCH. “I thank Exelon and everyone who donated to Operation Warm this year.”

The coats range in sizes from 4 to adult small and are available to any community member in need while supplies last. Coats are available at LCH, 731 West Cyprus St., from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. until noon on Friday. To ensure fit, children need to accompany adults.

LCH’s Operation Warm 2014 distributed 113 coats, 31 baby quilts, 500 pairs of socks and various hats and gloves during December. Donations were made by Exelon, FARO, the Episcopal Church of the Advent, Quilts for Comfort, RSVP of Chester County, Walmart, Jenner’s Pond Retirement Center and individual donors.

La Comunidad Hispana was established in 1973 as a community-based nonprofit organization to help low income residents of southern Chester County stay healthy, build strong families and lead productive lives by providing high-quality, culturally welcoming services.
