SEPTA, Philabundance Stop Hunger At Stations

By

Philabundance’s shelves are well-stocked this holiday season thanks to the generosity of SEPTA customers and employees, who collected nearly 18 tons of food for the agency.

Commuters contributed during the SEPTA two-week “Stop Hunger at Your Station” food drive. During the past six years, SEPTA customers and employees have donated more than 100 tons of food – that’s over 200,000 meals for families across the greater Philadelphia region.

“Every year we can count on our customers and employees to come through for their neighbors in need by supporting our Stop Hunger at Your Station drive,” said Joseph Casey, SEPTA general manager. “We are fortunate to have so many caring people who ride SEPTA and work for the authority. The donations have made, and will continue to make, a significant difference for local residents struggling to feed their families. The contributions are especially welcome during the holiday season.”

Philabundance is the region’s largest hunger-relief organization. In 2013, Philabundance distributed 30 million pounds of food across the Delaware Valley.
