Vishay Partners With Welsh Firm To Expand Into Foil Precision Resistor Market

By

Vishay Precision Group is partnering with Charcroft Electronics Ltd. to boost the availability of Bulk Metal Foil precision resistors made in the United Kingdom by the Wales-based electronics distributor and manufacturer.

VPG is working with Charcroft to implement new equipment that will increase capacity for Bulk Metal Foil resistors made in the UK. The partnership will also allow Charcroft to support more volume with shorter lead times.

Charcroft is one of several Vishay Foil Resistors (VFR) Express Hubs which are located strategically throughout Europe, Asia, and the Americas. The hubs offer customers the opportunity to source precision resistors locally in a matter of days.

“Charcroft holds a very special place in the UK electronics industry as was recognized by the visit of HRH The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall to commemorate the company’s 25th anniversary in its headquarters in Wales and to see a demonstration of precision resistor trimming,” said Yuval Hernik, senior director of application engineering for VFR.

“It is not surprising that a growing number of customers in the UK prefer to source their precision resistors from Charcroft, which has been a familiar name and a trusted source in the British market for more than 40 years.”

Charcroft is a privately owned company founded in 1974 in Suffolk, UK. The firm moved to its current location in Powys, Wales — where its offices, warehouses, and manufacturing facilities are located — in 1985. The company has been making bulk metal foil resistors in the UK since 2003. Charcroft has a knowledgeable team of just under 50 employees.

VPG designs, manufactures and markets components based on resistive foil technology; sensors; and sensor-based systems specializing in the growing markets of stress, force, weight, pressure and current measurements. VPG is a market leader of Foil Technology Products.

Vishay has headquarters in Malvern.
