Malvern Firm Developing Philly’s Tallest Skyscraper
The towering Center City Comcast Center completed in 2008 just wasn’t enough.
Now, to go with the gigantic strides Comcast is taking with its acquisition of Time Warner Cable and TV rights for the Olympics through 2032, the cable giant is planning an even taller tower for the Philly skyline — and Malvern-based Liberty Property Trust is again the developer.
Comcast CEO Brian Roberts “doesn’t feel that he fulfilled his vision of a vertical campus with the Comcast Center and is doing that now,” according to a recent Philly.com report.
The groundbreaking for the new tower is expected within the coming month, and its completion is slated for 2017.
“There’s no question that having Comcast as a locked-in partner as a majority owner greatly reduces risk and allows you to push the envelope,” said Liberty Regional Director and Senior Vice President John Gattuso.
