American Helicopter Museum Plans Father’s Day Fatherfest

The American Helicopter Museum and Education Center will hold their annual FatherFest event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday June 15.

6.2.2014 American Helicopter Museum logoFathers and their families are welcome to visit the museum at 1220 American Blvd., West Chester. The usual exhibits and activities at the museum will be open, and there will be a display of antique cars, hot rods and motorcycles. There will be a monster truck moon bounce for the kids, and helicopter rides will be offered throughout the afternoon for $40.

Pilot Jim Palmquist will also give a presentation titled “Helicopters – Washing Machines that Fly.” Palmquist will tell the story of the HH-2D, an original Navy helicopter.

There will be a $7 fee to those interested in showcasing a car or motorcycle in the antique automobile display. Viewers will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite motorcycle and automobile. The winner in each category will receive a trophy and certificate for a free helicopter ride.

There will also be food vendors. Admission is $7, with children under 2 admitted free. Established in 1996, the American Helicopter Museum and Education Center is a nonprofit organization that collects, restores and displays rotary-wing aircraft. The museum has more than 35 civilian and military helicopters, autogiros and convertaplanes. Visitors can climb aboard several of the helicopters.
