Dansko Staff Are Community Volunteers During The April Footwear Cares Community Service Campaign

By

This April, staff at Dansko in West Grove are doing far more than marketing comfortable, classy shoes.

Dansko’s 170 employee-owners are volunteering at the Special Olympics at the Jennersville Y, cleaning up highways and lending their hands to the Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Kennett Square as a local outreach within the national Footwear Cares community service campaign.

In all more than 100 shoe companies and 6,000 volunteers are participating in Footwear Cares. The month-long initiative is led by the Two Ten Footwear Foundation and encourages shoe companies to meaningfully invest in their local communities. The Dansko volunteer team will be involved in nine different service projects.

Last year Dansko employees donated 1,100 hours of employee time throughout southeastern Pennsylvania. Dansko then matched the equivalent of employee salaries with a charitable donation to the organizations.

In addition to Adopt-a-Highway, Habitat for Humanity and Special Olympics, the six other charities receiving many helping hands from Dansko are: the nonprofit Neighborhood Services Center of Oxford; Ronald McDonald House of Delaware; Safe Harbor Shelter of Chester County, an emergency homeless shelter in West Chester; Stroud Water Research Center in Avondale; The Garage Community and Youth Centers in West Grove and Kennett Square; and Tri-State Bird Rescue & Research.

“At Dansko, our purpose runs even deeper than the products we offer,” said Mandy Cabot, Dansko co-founder, president and chief executive officer. “For nearly 25 years, we have been committed to serving our community, lending a helping hand wherever possible. Through the products we design, and through our support and care for the community, we are sincerely committed to being a responsible neighbor, doing whatever we can to fulfill our company mission of improving the quality of people’s lives.”

While participating in the service projects, Dansko employees and Footwear Cares participants across the country will share images on Instagram and Facebook, using the official hashtag #FootwearCares.
