County Food Artisans, Farmers, Wine Makers And Brewers Set For Philly Farm Fest

By

Farmers, artisan food makers, wine makers and brewers from Chester County are set to make a strong showing for local sustainable agriculture during the third annual Philly Farm Fest, set for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 13, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.

The event is sponsored by Fair Food and the Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture. General admission tickets are $20 and visitors are encouraged to bring market bags to carry home the bounty of Chester County and other parts of the state. In all, more than a hundred farmers, food artisans, chefs and vendors of sustainable local products will exhibit and sell their goods.

This year there will be new demonstrations, workshops, panel discussions and family activities. Philadelphia filmmaker Richard Power Hoffman and his daughter Sylvie, star of “Watermelon Magic,” will talk about the film, show a brief clip, and encourage children to make watermelon magic during a make and take craft activity. Children under 12 are admitted free to the fest.

Food trend blogger Clark Wolf will lead a forum on ways to increase your daily consumption of wholesome foods. Chester County’s Paradocx Vineyard and Victory Brewing Company will make a showing and offer samples in the Libations Lounge. Other exhibitors from the county are:

The Righteous Felon Jerky Cartel of West Chester, specializing in beef jerky made from high quality, all-natural ingredients. The jerky is Black Angus beef grown without hormones or antibiotics and produced in small batches.

Vera Pasta of West Chester is Chef Joe D’Andrea’s company. D’Andrea makes pastas and sauces from all regions of Italy, inspired by his Italian upbringing in West Chester and further schooling in Italy.
