Designer Showcases Dansko Clogs During New York Fashion Week

Footwear from Dansko of West Grove in Chester County southern tier was recently featured in the fall/winter 2014 New York Fashion Week.

Designer Drew Villani showcased timeless, classic Dreu silhouettes from his line paired with Dansko Stapled Professional and Karl clogs (above).

“With Dreu, I wanted to show a juxtaposition of minimalist clothing with Dansko footwear,” Villani said in a Dansko news release. “So I started with t-shirts and suits, and found that Dansko clogs worked perfectly to maintain the clean, beautiful look.”

Villani, an Australian native, first entered the New York fashion scene with a business background and a passion for design. Dreu is his first line of menswear. The collection draws inspiration from fabrics that age naturally and features cashmere sweaters, solid color t-shirts and contemporary suits. Villani chose Dansko clogs in oiled and patent leathers for his Fashion Week presentation.

“When looking for shoes to pair with my line, Dansko was always in the back of my mind, because I wear them personally,” Villani said. “Aside from being super comfortable, they are easy to throw on and head out the door.”

Villani created his innovative Dreu men’s line for New York Fashion Week. Dansko states Villani hopes to achieve his ultimate goal of building Dreu into a full fashion house and consulting agency.

Villani plans to continue pairing Dansko clogs with more contemporary suits, sweaters and t-shirts, creating a modern and sophisticated look.

Dansko was founded in 1990 by Mandy Cabot and Peter Kjellerup. The company says it leads the comfort footwear market with award-winning design and customer service. The company has 185 employee-owners and has its home office and a retail outlet in West Grove.
