Employees from the Downingtown and Malvern Wegmans stores plan to donate $92,040 to the Chester County Food Bank on Feb. 10, the Exton Town Dish reports.

The funds were raised through Wegmans’ Check Out Hunger campaign, in which customers and employees contribute to the local food bank at checkout.

“We are so grateful for the partnership that we have with Wegmans,” said Larry Welsch, executive director of the Chester County Food Bank. “Partnerships like this are critical to fulfilling our mission to provide food for those in need in Chester County while focusing on hunger’s role in poverty, health and education.”

In all, the Check Out Hunger campaign raised $315,708 to benefit food banks in southeastern Pennsylvania and the Lehigh Valley.

“These results are remarkable,” said Blaine Forkell, Wegmans Pennsylvania division manager. “What our customers and employees appreciate about Check Out Hunger is that donations go directly toward helping people right in their own communities.”
