The Craft House opened its doors in January 2015 as a craft beer and gourmet food option adjacent to the Ingleside Golf Club in Thorndale, PA.  The large, former President Buchanan summer estate is a two-story facility housing a bar, a dining room, event and game space as well as the Tee Tavern for golfers to enjoy after a round.ThorndaleCraftHouse (1)

Local restauranteurs John and Lisa Hashem decided to open the Craft House after realizing there was a dearth of craft beer centered pubs in Western Chester County.  Setting out to create a strong beer list, the Craft House offers over 20 draught beers and aims to have 100+ bottles, though currently has 60 as they continue to grow.

“When creating our beer menu, we wanted to select beers that complement our creative but comforting menu,” says owner John Hashem of Coatesville.  The extensive menu includes more typical starters like soups and salads but then features small plates, burgers, sandwiches, and more substantial dinner items.

“We’re particularly proud of our Maryland style crab cakes,” John explains, “as they’re made fresh every day from lump crab.”  Other unique menu items include braised cumin dusted short ribs, pan-seared duck breast with cognac apricot demi-glaze, and applewood bacon and chipotle mac and cheese featuring a three cheese blend.

Pulling up to the Craft House, patrons will immediately notice that practically every window is adorned with a beer logo in neon.  Instead of just the typical mass-market beers, craft breweries like Boulevard of Kansas City and DeSchutes Brewery from Oregon are displayed.

The Craft House showcases a different craft brewery every month, choosing to bring attention to both local craft breweries and the leading brewers from throughout the US.  Highlighted breweries enjoy Happy Hour specials, tastings, and a beer pairing dinner.  Stay tuned to their website and social media for other details, tastings, and offerings.

The Craft House is the newest member of the Western Chester County Chamber of Commerce and is looking to establish themselves as a go-to location for both excellent beer and a family meal in Western Chester County.  Reach out to reserve space for any large party event or to reserve a table.
