The Arc of Chester County is a non-profit organization dedicated for 70 years to advocate, educate and provide services to empower individuals with disabilities and their families to enhance the quality of their lives.  Arc’s employees value their work and are committed to providing quality services to help support individuals achieve their goals.  

The following positions at the Arc are available:

Arc Education Advocate—Part-Time and Full Time

The Education Advocate is responsible for intake, intervention, and follow-up on identified advocacy requests/needs. They must attend IEP Interagency meetings as assigned or available.

They will track all phone and written communication with individuals, families, and professionals, and handle ongoing responsibilities for date entry and utilization reports.

On-going responsibilities for date entry and utilization reports.

A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is preferred but not essential.

  • Candidates should have relevant experience in the field of Education Advocacy, preferably working knowledge of special education laws and the special education process.
  • At least 2 years experience preferred providing volunteer or paid advocacy supports or related supports.
  • Board Certified Special Education Advocate preferred or comparable training in Education Advocacy.
  • Valid driver’s license and clear record with own reliable vehicle.

Arc Employment Training Specialist (Job Coach)

The Employment Training Specialist is a full-time position that will work at locations throughout Chester County, with a primary focus on Southern Chester County.   

They will provide creative and person-centered job coaching services to candidates who have disabilities and face barriers to employment. 

Job coaching is a position where you can truly “make a difference,” for people with disabilities AND for the community at  large.

The job coach will:

  • Assist our job candidates to obtain and sustain employment
  • Help them to build their social connections and their independence
  • Work to educate businesses about the skills and talents of people who have disabilities
  • Promote the development of diversified workplaces 

Requirements for this position:

  • Professional and/or personal experience with people who have disabilities
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle
  • Ability to obtain clear PA Criminal, Child Abuse and FBI clearances
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred but not required.

Fiscal Associate  

The part-time position required 25 to 29 hours per week.

The Fiscal Association performs accounting functions for The Arc of Chester County. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Manage Representative Payee services, as assigned
  • Processes participant’s monthly bills/spending and Social Security deposits
  •  Completes required reports and paperwork
  • Assists in preparing Agency With Choice Support Service Professional’s (SSP) mileage sheets, including gathering, reviewing, and calculating payroll
  • Checks that drivers have valid credentials and cross-check mileage sheets to timesheets to confirm time worked prior to processing for payment
  • Assists with processing agency billings as assigned
  • Handles all incoming checks for agency ensuring the proper logging/tracking and appropriate receivables to each department. Writes up bank deposit slips
  • Assists with any administrative function needed in the Fiscal department, such as scanning of documents, filing, and copying

 Candidates for this position should have:

  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Some college or one to two years related Accounts Payable & Receivable experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong math skills and excellent attention to detail required
