Happening Today at the Desmond: Event Planners Try Their Hand at Culinary Challenge

Above: corporate event planners throw the cookbook out the window and compete in the spontaneous and fun Chester County Culinary Challenge last year.

Untitled-2Meeting and event planners for some of the biggest business names in southeast Pennsylvania are doing more than putting together blockbuster events this week; they’re getting a taste of reality TV stardom and putting together culinary masterpieces — without a pre-planned menu.

The mystery ingredient basket at the center of Tuesday’s Chester County Culinary Challenge 2016 will draw all eyes and put each chef’s skills to the test — for fun and new relationships, of course.

The culinary challenge’s imitation of reality Food Network show “Chopped” aims to liven the atmosphere at the exclusive business-to-business networking event for corporate meeting planners and venue hosts at Malvern’s Desmond Hotel and Conference Center, according to a Daily Local News report by Sarah E. Moran.

“Last year we had a version of this competition, and it was a tremendous success,” Chester County Conference and Visitors Bureau Sales Manager Courtney Babcock said in the article. “We are expanding the program and anticipate entertaining networking opportunities for our partners and customers.”

Some of the big names include Vanguard, GlaxoSmithKline, Comcast, QVC, Penn State Great Valley, Brandywine River Museum and Sheraton Great Valley.

The culinary challenge is being co-sponsored by the Chester County Conference and Visitors Bureau and Mid-Atlantic Events Magazine, and it will be judged by Chester County Commissioners Kathi Cozzone and Michelle Kichline.
