Businesses Prepare for Next Year’s DNC

Over 150 business people gathered at the Community College of Philadelphia on Monday in hopes of their businesses being able to profit from the Democratic National Convention which will be held next summer in Philadelphia.

Mayor Nutter, who was present at the gathering, made sure to warn the attendees that not every business in Philadelphia would be able to profit from the dollars the convention will bring to the region.

Chairwoman of the Democratic National Convention Committee, Reverend Leah Daughtry, stated that with 40,000 people expected to attend the presidential nominating convention which will be held during the week of July 25, opportunities will certainly be there. She also noted that Democrats especially take into consideration minority, female, veteran and LGBT businesses.

Businesses that want to be included in the vendor directory and receive alerts for bid requests need to sign up on www.phldnc.com. Over 1,500 businesses have already registered.
